See why Veraflox® Oral Suspension for Cats is the next step in veterinary antibiotic therapy for cats.
Veraflox® (pradofloxacin) Oral Suspension for Cats
Veraflox® (pradofloxacin) Oral Suspension for Cats is the next step in veterinary antibiotic therapy for cats. It is approved for the treatment of skin infections (wounds and abscesses) in cats caused by susceptible strains of:
- Pasteurella multocida
- Streptococcus canis
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Staphylococcus felis
- Staphylococcus pseudintermedius
Veraflox® was designed to improve upon the efficacy against Gram-positive and anaerobic pathogens compared to previous-generation fluoroquinolones while delivering the same Gram-negative activity.*1 It delivers enhanced bactericidal activity by attacking both essential target enzymes necessary for bacterial DNA replication — DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV — with high affinity.*2 Its demonstrated safety measures include extensive ocular safety testing.3 Veraflox® is approved for use in kittens and cats 12 weeks of age and older.
CAUTION: Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Federal law prohibits the extra-label use of this drug in food-producing animals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use in dogs. Pradofloxacin has been shown to cause bone marrow suppression in dogs. Pradofloxacin is contraindicated in cats with a known hypersensitivity to quinolones.
WARNINGS: Not for human use. Keep out of reach of children. For use in cats only. The administration of fluoroquinolones for longer than seven days induced reversible leukocyte, neutrophil and lymphocyte decreases in healthy 12-week-old kittens.
PRECAUTIONS: The use of fluoroquinolones in cats has been associated with retinopathy or blindness. Such products should be used with caution in cats. Refer to the product label for a more complete list of risks and precautions.

Veraflox ® (paradofloxacin) Oral Suspension for Cats was specifically designed for cats and is the only 3rd generation fluoroquinolone approved available to veterinarians. It is conveniently administered once daily.
Each mL of Veraflox® Oral Suspension provides 25 mg of pradofloxacin.
The easy-to-use Veraflox® dispenser makes accurate dosing simple. The dose of Veraflox® is 3.4 mg/lb. (7.5 mg/kg) body weight once daily for seven consecutive days.
Use the syringe provided to ensure accuracy of dosing to the nearest 0.1 mL. Rinse syringe between doses.
A sample of the lesion should be obtained for culture and susceptibility testing prior to beginning antibacterial therapy. Once results are available, continue with appropriate therapy. If acceptable response to treatment is not observed, or if no improvement is seen within three to four days, then the diagnosis should be re-evaluated and appropriate alternative therapy considered.
Veraflox® is available as a premixed suspension in both 15 mL and 30 mL bottles. The 15 mL bottle covers the label dose and duration for kittens and cats up to about 15 lbs. The 30 mL is available for convenient use in larger patients or for use in-hospital. The suspension is good for 60 days after opening.
Veraflox® 15 mL: 84364593
Veraflox® 30 mL: 84364607
No. Veraflox® features a premixed suspension that is stored at normal room temperature.
Veraflox® is proven effective in fed patients and can be given at the same time as food. However, the product should be given orally to ensure the entire prescribed dose is administered.
