Advantage® II for Dogs
- 9.10% imidacloprid
- 0.46% pyriproxyfen
Imidacloprid attacks fleas’ nervous systems — paralyzing and ultimately killing them.
An insect growth regulator (IGR), such as pyriproxyfen, inhibits the development of flea eggs by mimicking the juvenile growth hormone. This ingredient prevents immature flea stages from molting into the next stage of the life cycle and keeps them from developing into adult fleas. It also offers additional larvicidal properties when compared with imidacloprid alone.
One treatment of Advantage® II is effective for 1 month. In cases of severe flea infestation, re-treatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks; clients should not re-treat more often than every 7 days. After flea control is attained, your patient can return to a monthly treatment schedule.
Advantage® II is available in four weight bands. Each weight band is available in 4- or 6-packs:
- 3-10 lbs., small dog
- 11-20 lbs., medium dog
- 21-55 lbs., large dog
- Over 55 lbs., extra-large dog
Advantage® II Small Dog
1 Sleeve of 12 4-Packs (0.4 mL Tubes)
1 Sleeve of 12 6-Packs (0.4 mL Tubes)
Advantage® II Medium Dog
1 Sleeve of 12 4-Packs (1.0 mL Tubes)
1 Sleeve of 12 6-Packs (1.0 mL Tubes)
Advantage® II Large Dog
1 Sleeve of 12 4-Packs (2.5 mL Tubes)
1 Sleeve of 12 6-Packs (2.5 mL Tubes)
Advantage® II Extra-large Dog
1 Sleeve of 12 4-Packs (4.0 mL Tubes)
1 Sleeve of 12 6-Packs (4.0 mL Tubes)
There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for Advantage® II for Dogs. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.
With an insect growth regulator (IGR) as part of your patients’ flea control, the flea life cycle is disrupted at multiple stages through different active ingredients and modes of action. This is often referred to as integrated flea control (IFC). The addition of an IGR to Advantage® II provides ovicidal properties, as well as additional larvicidal properties, to target flea infestations and kill all flea life stages.
Yes, Advantage® II for Dogs is waterproof after 24 hours. There is no need for clients to reapply the product after weekly swimming or a bath. For best results, it's recommended to use a non-detergent shampoo.
Advantage® II for Cats
- 9.10% imidacloprid
- 0.46% pyriproxyfen
Imidacloprid attacks the flea's nervous system — paralyzing and ultimately killing it. It also offers additional larvicidal properties when compared with imidacloprid alone.
Advantage® II for Cats can be applied monthly, year-round to keep your patients protected from fleas. A single application of Advantage® II for Cats stops biting fleas for one month.
However, if the cat has a severe infestation, re-treatment within a month may be necessary. Do not re-treat more often than once every 14 days for kittens or once every 7 days for small and large cats; after flea control is attained, your client can return to a monthly re-treatment schedule.
Advantage® II is available in three weight bands:
Advantage® II Kitten, 2-5 lbs.
1 Sleeve of 12 4-Packs (0.23 mL tubes)
Advantage® II Small Cat, 5-9 lbs.

Advantage® II Large Cat, over 9 lbs.
1 Sleeve of 12 4-Packs (0.8 mL tubes)
1 Sleeve of 12 6-Packs (0.8 mL tubes)
There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for Advantage® II for Cats. We recommend the product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

As a general guide, administer 5 to 10 drops per treatment to dogs weighing 35 lbs. or less, and 10 to 15 drops per treatment in dogs weighing more than 35 lbs. Following treatment, gently massage the ear to ensure complete and uniform distribution of the medication throughout the external ear canal. After initial application, clients can apply twice daily for up to 14 days.

The active ingredient in Baytril® Antibacterial Tablets is enrofloxacin.
Dogs: Administer orally at a rate to provide 5-20 mg/kg (2.27 to 9.07 mg/lb) of body weight. Selection of a dose within the range should be based on clinical experience, the severity of disease and susceptibility of the pathogen. Animals that receive doses in the upper end of the dose range should be carefully monitored for clinical signs that may include inappetence, depression and vomiting.
Cats: Administer orally at 5.0 mg/kg (2.27 mg/lb) of body weight. The dose for dogs and cats may be administered either as a single daily dose or divided into 2 equal daily doses administered at 12-hour intervals. The dose should be continued for at least 2-3 days beyond cessation of clinical signs, to a maximum of 30 days.
Dogs & Cats: The duration of treatment should be selected based on clinical evidence. Generally, administration of Baytril® Tablets should continue for at least 2-3 days beyond cessation of clinical signs. For severe and/or complicated infections, more prolonged therapy, up to 30 days, may be required. If no improvement is seen within 5 days, the diagnosis should be re-evaluated and a different course of therapy considered.
The lower limit of the dose range in dogs and the daily dose for cats was based on
efficacy studies in dogs and cats where enrofloxacin was administered at 2.5 mg/kg

While not as well-known as pet shampoos, leave-on rinse products are a great way to promote skin health and coat quality, especially on patients with dry or sensitive skin. They are best utilized after a bath (using either routine or medicated shampoo) when the shampoo has been thoroughly rinsed off and the coat is still wet. Once applied, rinses are worked into the patients’ skin and coat and should not be washed off. Leave-on rinses moisturize the skin, make the coat more manageable, prevent tangles, snarls, and matting and promote coat luster and sheen.

A hydrating shampoo contains ingredients designed to keep water in the skin, helping to maintain a soft, smooth texture. A variety of ingredients support skin hydration, including fatty acids and oils. These shampoos typically lather well and often are formulated with a pleasant smell.
Soap-free shampoo is a term used to describe shampoos that use soaps derived from synthetic ingredients instead of from animal fat, which may strip a pet’s coat, leaving it dry and irritated. Soap-free shampoos are gentler for pets and can help avoid skin irritation or allergic reactions.
Above all, be sure your clients know not to use human shampoo on their cat or dog. Human products are formulated for use on more acidic skin (pH around 5), while dog and cat products are generally formulated for use on more pH neutral skin (pH around 7). Human products can dry out a pet’s skin and cause irritation.

Boswellia serrata, also known as Indian frankincense, is a large branching tree native to India, North Africa and the Middle East. The tree’s resin contains boswellic acids, which have been shown in laboratory studies to support a healthy inflammatory response1 and promote joint health.2 Boswellia serrata may also help with occasional discomfort and joint stiffness due to daily activity.3

The active component of turmeric, curcumin, is a yellow phytochemical extracted from the plant’s roots that has shown to have many properties, including antioxidant and free radical scavenging abilities. There is also in vitro data supporting a healthy inflammatory response1 and glutathione production.2 Glutathione is an antioxidant necessary for many normal cellular functions.

Antioxidants like those found in Synovi G4® support a dog’s health by battling free radicals throughout the body. Free radicals are formed when a normal atom loses an electron and becomes unstable. While free radicals are natural by-products of normal bodily functions, when produced in excess, they can cause cell damage throughout the body. This damage is commonly referred to as free radical oxidative stress.
Some of the factors that can contribute to free radical formation and increase oxidative stress include air pollution, illness and inflammation, and excessive UV light exposure.1
Antioxidants play a vital role by neutralizing free radicals by contributing the missing electrons atoms need without becoming free radicals themselves. As a result, antioxidants can reduce free radicals, helping the body work naturally to reduce oxidative stress. Protecting the body from free radical oxidative stress can maintain a normal, healthy inflammatory response.

Synovi G4® is based on the proven joint support matrix in Synovi G3®, which contains Perna canaliculus (also known as green-lipped mussel) found in the coastal waters of New Zealand. Perna is a rich source of chondroitin as well as omega-3 fatty acids.
These two ingredients were added because they are not commonly found in traditional joint supplements and are known for a variety of health benefits. A growing body of evidence indicates that both Boswellia and turmeric may be beneficial in the support of healthy joints, including cartilage and connective tissue, as well as a healthy inflammatory response.
It varies depending on a wide scope of factors, such as lifestyle, genetic predispositions, body condition and type of discomfort. It is possible that pet owners may notice some benefit within two to four weeks.
Store at room temperature in a location a dog cannot access. Synovi G4® is provided in a bag/tub and should be kept sealed and stored at room temperature when not in use. It does not require refrigeration or any other special storage.
The protein source is poultry liver.

Profender® for cats can be applied once every 30 days if needed. One dose will kill and remove adult tapeworms as well as adult and immature stages of roundworms and hookworms. quellin® (carprofen) Soft Chews
The active ingredient is carprofen.
Carprofen is bioequivalent to Rimadyl®. Rimadyl® is a registered trademark of Zoetis Services LLC or a related company or a licensor.
Always provide Client Information Sheet with prescription. Carefully consider the potential benefits and risks of carprofen and other treatment options before deciding to use carprofen. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with individual response. The recommended dose for oral administration to dogs is 2 mg/lb. of body weight daily. The total daily dose may be administered as 2 mg/lb. of body weight once daily or divided and administered as 1 mg/lb. twice daily.
For the control of postoperative pain, administer approximately 2 hours before the procedure. quellin® soft chewable tablets are scored and dosage should be calculated in half-tablet increments. Soft chewable tablets can be halved by holding the tablet on each side of the score line and pressing up in the middle to break the tablet into two pieces. Care should be taken to ensure that the dog consumes the complete dose.
Quellin® is available in strengths of 25, 75 and 100 mg in bottles of either 30 or 120 soft chewable tablets.
quellin® soft chews are scored and are easily divided for convenient dosing by your clients. The active ingredient is uniformly distributed in each chew so dosing remains accurate. Here’s how:
No. While quellin® contains no animal proteins of any sort, and may be useful for animals with allergies to those proteins, it does not contain hydrolyzed plant proteins nor has it been proven to be hypoallergenic.
In most dogs, improvement can be seen in a matter of days.
Veraflox® (pradofloxacin) Oral Suspension for Cats
Veraflox ® (paradofloxacin) Oral Suspension for Cats was specifically designed for cats and is the only 3rd generation fluoroquinolone approved available to veterinarians. It is conveniently administered once daily.
Each mL of Veraflox® Oral Suspension provides 25 mg of pradofloxacin.
The easy-to-use Veraflox® dispenser makes accurate dosing simple. The dose of Veraflox® is 3.4 mg/lb. (7.5 mg/kg) body weight once daily for seven consecutive days.
Use the syringe provided to ensure accuracy of dosing to the nearest 0.1 mL. Rinse syringe between doses.
A sample of the lesion should be obtained for culture and susceptibility testing prior to beginning antibacterial therapy. Once results are available, continue with appropriate therapy. If acceptable response to treatment is not observed, or if no improvement is seen within three to four days, then the diagnosis should be re-evaluated and appropriate alternative therapy considered.
Veraflox® is available as a premixed suspension in both 15 mL and 30 mL bottles. The 15 mL bottle covers the label dose and duration for kittens and cats up to about 15 lbs.
